Welcome to Diet Diva's blog. I'm a serial dieter, never sticking to one long enough to make a real difference, getting bored so quickly I don't even have time to use up the ingredients I bought with such hope just a few days ago.
Over the last year I've lost 2 stone, but put nearly all of that on again. My doctor keeps telling me I need to bring myself down into the low normal BMI range given my petite frame and health issues, and stop playing around in the low overweight range. I found it a lot easier to get down to a bmi of 25 than to get it down even 1 point further!
I think a lot of women are in a similar position, they're not at the point where their weight is a life threatening problem, but they're not quite comfortable with how they look, there is a little niggle in the back of your mind that maybe you'd have more energy and confidence if you just lost those few pounds, but without a major shock the diet is always going to start on Monday. So mine literally is!
Like many people my vices are simple - chocolate, home baking, cheese, bread, creamy pasta, curry, it goes on and on. I do love fruit, but when faced with £4 for a tub of strawberries, or £1 for a large bar of organic milk chocolate somehow I always end up with 4 bars of the chocolate in my trolley instead.
My experiences have led me to question the concept of calorie counting. It seems I can eat a lot less than my 2000 calories a day, and still gain weight. Therefore I think it could be more of how you eat than what you eat.
The aim of this blog is simple, to share my experiences as I embark upon a mission to loose the the love handles. Each week I will be trying a new diet, I'll blog about the highs and lows, and hopefully find one that works for me. I'll share the best recipes I find, the side effects, and most importantly, the results at the end of each week.
If anyone wants to follow alongside me I'd welcome the company.
